  3. They name their towns by placing an epileptic cat on a keyboard.

There's a place not far from where I live in Nova Scotia called "Ecum Secum," (EEK-um-SEEK-um) and I thought that was quirky.

  4. For a moment I wondered why youtube is recommending a video of someone not fucking up pronouncing something he almost certainly heard and pronounced many times before. Then I realised we live in the age of Drumpf and was amazed.

  5. That's the tricky part of pronouncing this village.
The ll doesn't make an l sound.
It's a kind of hissing with your tongue pressed against the back of your top teeth.

  6. Sounds like whoever created that town just had a stroke while deciding what to name it and everyone was just like "ya that's a good name"

  7. me; *dials 911 *
    911; what’s your emergency?
me; help there are robbers in my house.
911; okay sir where are you from?
    me; Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
911; …sir are you suffering from a stroke or are you speaking russian?

  8. I've actually visited the town & it's beautiful.
It's often just called Llanfairpwll. The train station does have the full name on an enormous sign.

What's even more shocking, Llanfairpwll's full title is 58 characters, but there is a New Zealand place that boasts 85 characters.

If a weatherman could nail Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu I'd be even more impressed!

  9. Longest city name in New Zealand called "Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu"

In english means "the city of angels, the great city, the eternal jewel city, the impregnable city of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukam"

It has nearly 170 letters out there!

  12. what about the weatherwoman who nailed Taumatawhakatangihangakoauautamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu one go?

  13. she said it wrong. its pronounced chlan, vire as in 'fire', poolch, gwin, gilch,go, ger, u,drob, oolch, chlandus, eelio, goh goh goch. it means. St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the fierce whirlpool of St Tysilio of the red cave. most welsh place names mean something to do with the place or where it is.
